Jewish and Arab workers unite in Nazareth, threaten industrial action and win concessions

In recent years, a number of small and independent unions have emerged in Israel that aim to organize workers that have not been reached by the Histadrut, the country’s main trade union center.

One of these is the Workers Advice Center (WAC Ma’an), which has been focussed on organizing Jewish and Arab workers.

In recent days, WAC has announced that the threat of industrial action by workers it organized in a food factory in Upper Nazareth has resulted in the employer backing down and agreeing to meet the union in a series of scheduled consultations in April.

The full story is on the WAC website, here.
