BDS activists: We will take TUC further - to a full boycott of Israel

The anti-Israel activists who got the British Trades Union Congress (TUC) to call for a partial boycott of goods from the Jewish state are not resting on their laurels.

They have a plan and it calls for getting the British trade union movement to back a full boycott of Israel.  They see the boycott of goods from settlements, which the TUC now supports, as being just one step in that direction.

This is not what the “Zionist lobby” or “Israel propaganda” has to say — it’s what they say on their own website.

Hugh Lanning, a leader of the giant PSC union and a key figure in the Palestine Solidarity Campaign, writes:

“The Palestine Solidarity Campaign is committed to not only build an effective campaign for boycotting settlement goods with the TUC, but also to work to take TUC policy further, together with individual unions, many of which already have policy supporting a full boycott.”

Leaders of some British unions say that the compromise resolution adopted at last year’s TUC congress reflects their view and is not just a stepping-stone towards a full boycott of the Jewish state.

But the PSC thinks differently — and says so openly.

Leaders of British unions should openly state where they stand.

If they oppose the campaign of boycotts, divestments and sanctions (BDS) advocated by the PSC, they should say so clearly.
